Over generations, our family have always holidayed in Filey, dating back to the 1950's, when they didn't own a car and had to borrow a Ford Pop for the 3 hour, 40 mile trip from York. Filey is more than a destination to us; it’s a place woven into our memories, filled with tradition, warmth, and a deep sense of belonging.
For my dad, who's sadly no longer with us, he had three priorities in his life: his family, his classic car and going on holiday. Dad worked incredibly hard, regularly more than 80 hour weeks, to provide for his family. That hard work paid off for those fleeting weeks each year when he could exchange suit trousers for shorts and could explore the world with his family.

In 2025, after a long search for the perfect location, we found ourselves standing in the drizzle outside Folkton Hall Stables—a beautiful, if wildly overgrown and timeworn gem. Despite its ramshackle state, it radiated potential. We knew instantly it was the place where our vision could take root: a haven to relax, recharge, and explore the heart of North Yorkshire.
The transformation began in earnest that summer. On 30 June, we received the keys—tucked inside an old biscuit tin, no less—and so began the next chapter of our journey.
